How old do I need to be to apply?

Counsellors entering Grade 10+ and up can apply for a counsellor position. 

If I am younger can I volunteer?

Yes, we are also looking for responsible and enthusiastic assistant volunteers who are entering Gr.7-9. Assistant volunteers will be compensated with a gift card. If you have previously worked for us as a volunteer you may qualify for a paid position. 

How many campers will I be supervising?

It will depend on the bunk and group you are assigned to. 

Will I have a co-counsellor?

In most cases there will only be 1 main counsellor for each bunk with assistant volunteers.  Bunks with multiple 3 year old campers will have an assistant plus main counsellors. 

What is the pay?

Salary will range depending on your age and experience.  

What are my daily responsibilities?

Your responsibilities will include supervising your camper group and leading the daily afternoon activities and schedule . You will be provided with a weekly schedule and all the supplies you need. Counsellors will also have the opportunity to plan their own activities if they desire.

How old are the campers? 

Campers can be as young as 3 years, up to age 11. 

Is there staff training?

Yes, there will be staff training scheduled over Zoom. You will also be required to have completed First Aid Training within the last 2 years, or complete a training online prior to the start of camp.

What about COVID-19? Will there be extra safety measures in place?

  • Our staff will complete health and safety training prior to the start of camp including review of proper hand washing guidelines.
  • Staff will wear gloves during activities with shared materials and replace them after each activity.
  • JCK will provide and utilize fun props to emphasize the importance of personal space in a friendly way. Each camper will get a personal hula hoop to be used for sports and fun fitness while also assisting with physical distancing.
  • All sites and staff will be provided with sanitizer, wipes, and cleaning products for daily cleaning of common areas.
  • Campers will be required to have their temperature taken daily and not permitted to attend camp if they are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19.
